Governor Fatuma Achani leads Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kwale

Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani together with County Commissioner Stephen Orinde on Monday October 20, 2025 led citizens in Mashujaa Day celebrations at Tiribe Secondary School grounds in Mkongani Ward, Matuga.

The celebrations were marked by the remembrance of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who was laid to rest on October 19, in Bondo, Siaya County.

This comes during the national mourning of Raila Odinga, commonly known as Baba.

Speaking during the event, Governor Achani termed Raila a hero, who played a key role in the fight for multi-party freedom in Kenya.

She also linked the former PM to the promulgation of Kenya’s 2010 constitution, that led to devolution in the country.

Meanwhile, the main national event for this year’s Mashujaa Day is being held at  Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County.

President William Ruto led the Mashujaa Day celebrations that attracted thousands of Kenyans and delegates at Ithookwe Stadium.

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is among invited heads of State attending the event.
