In his sermon to a fully-packed Nyayo National Stadium, Bondo Diocese Bishop Prof. David Kodia led tributes, eulogising the late Raila Odinga as a politician and leader who never used money to intimidate people.

In photos: Raila Odinga lying in state at Parliament Buildings

The body of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has just arrived at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, ready for the State funeral service.

The service was supposed to start at 9 am, but Raila’s body was first laid in state for Members of Parliament, dignitaries and family members to also view it and pay their last respect.

The body of Raila Odinga is being ferried from Parliament Buildings to the Nyayo National Stadium, where thousands of Kenyans, dignitaries have gathered for the State Funeral Service.

Raila Odinga Jr. led the Odinga family in paying homage to the late Raila Odinga, as he laid in state at Parliament Buildings.

After lying in state in Parliament, the body of ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga is being prepared to be taken to Nyayo National Stadium for the State Funeral Service.

Raila is among the group of few people who were, and will be, accorded a State Funeral with Full Military Honours. They include, Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Moi, Mwai Kibaki, Francis Ogolla and now Raila Odinga.

Martha Karua, who was Raila Odinga’s running mate in the 2022 Presidential Elections, arrives at Parliament Buildings to pay her last respect to the former Prime Minister.

Karua has worked with Raila for many years, having served in the same Cabinet between 2005 and 2009.

Kenyans started flocking the Nyayo National Stadium as early as 6 am, ahead of the State Funeral Service in honour of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

After the two-hour state event, Kenyans will be accorded the opportunity to view the body of the late ODM Party leader.
